CLOSED - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2021

Good morning! With weather expected to worsen as the day goes on, we have decided that it is best for our patients and staff to close for the day. The office will be emailing patients scheduled for Monday to cancel appointments. Once we return to the office, we will call to reschedule those appointments for a later date. Stay warm and especially be safe today if you have to be out in this weather.

We will be assessing the situation for Tuesday's clinic hours. Stay up to date by following our website and social media accounts.

October Food Drive

The Well Outreach here in Spring Hill is in need of non-perishable items with the upcoming holiday seasons and to help stock the shelves. For the month of October, we will have bins in our waiting room collecting food to help out our friends who utilize The Well!

If you want to drop off goods but feel uncomfortable coming inside, you're more than welcome to call the office (615-302-4747) and we will send someone outside to meet you at your car.

Meet Hannah

Hannah is currently in training to become a chiropractic therapy assistant at In Motion Spine & Joint Center.

Hannah.jpg

Mostly raised in the southern belt of middle Georgia, she spread her wings to Destin, Florida where she managed a women's wellness center and taught Aerial hammock, kickboxing, and strength training fitness classes.

Desiring a change of pace, she moved back to her original roots in Tennessee to be near family and to further her college education.

Beyond discovering new things, Hannah challenges her abilities through rock climbing, snorkeling, and dancing. But the most thrilling adventure she has tackled so far is skydiving•

Krohn Needling.jpg

Our chiropractors make sure they are functioning at their best in order to provide excellent treatment to everyone that walks in our doors.

Today on our lunch break, Dr. Krohn had Dry Needling performed on his shoulder. This procedure is used to ease muscle and joint pain by “deactivating” trigger points or painful knots.

Do you experience shoulder pain, headaches, knee pain, sciatica, hip or gluteal pain, or even plantar fasciitis? Dry Needling may be an option for you. Talk to Dr. Hawkins or Dr. Krohn at your next appointment to see if you may benefit from Dry Needling.

Call us at (615) 302-4747 to schedule an appointment.

Laser Therapy

Class IV ‘hot’ laser is another amazing service we offer here at IMSJC‼️ Ever heard the term photobiomodulation?🤔 If so, you smart. If not, no worries, I’m about to explain all things science in a way that makes sense and helps you understand what this therapeutic laser can offer. So this term Photobiomodulation (PBM) is just a fancy word🤓 for giving the body nutrition at a cellular level🔬 to help restore healthy cellular function. During this treatment you will notice a red light🔴 being emitted from the laser as well as feel some heat🔥. So here’s what’s happening:⠀

-this non-coherent visible and near-infrared spectral range targets the mitochondria(powerhouse💪🏽 of the cell)⠀
-which increases⬆️ oxygen and ATP(energy🏃🏽‍♂️) production⠀
-resulting in cellular healing(red light effect) + decreased inflammation(metabolism from the heat) = pain reduction (both at the physical and chemical level)⠀

There are tons of other cascades that happen during this process but I’m not trying to bore you with those nerdy🤓details. If you want some more details on what else happens, hit up the dm’s! Lots of research📚 on this therapy! Several conditions may improve with this therapy, get scheduled so you can see if laser can help you.⠀

*If you want to sound fancy to your friends, here’s what you say: “the class iv laser elicits a photophysical and photochemical event at various biological scales for physiological changes and therapeutic effects.”🤟🏽

Kinesiology Tape

Kinesiology Tape or K-Tape🩹 is the last in office service I’ll be hitting on. Remember the 2008 Summer Olympics and all the athletes with this elastic tape covering their bodies😎? Well, it’s not just for show. . .it does provide some therapeutic benefits as well🙌🏽! The tape is applied in a particular fashion depending on how you respond to our ‘test-retest’ method to determine which pattern🌀 will have the best results for you. What this does is stimulate superficial neurology and receptors (afferent/efferent nerve communication with the brain🧠) to inhibit🚫 or decrease⬇️ pain. We can also use this tape to alert you from entering injury provoking motions or even assist in some sort of movement. Unfortunately there are not a lot of great studies on tape and a lot of them debunk what we once thought was happening. However, we know from our ‘test-retest’ method and patient response, that it provides some therapeutic benefits👍🏽. This is a great way to provide relief between our appointments so we can continue improving your function and decrease your pain levels. It is also a great way to help get athletes(no matter sport because technically everyone is an athlete if you are moving) get back on the field if needed. Want to give K-tape a try or know someone who could benefit⁉️ We would love to help out❕ Chat with us about different taping packages, so you can not only look cool😎, but hopefully provide 💯 health and wellness benefits, too!

Spring Forward This Weekend

Why did daylight savings time start in the United States?
Daylight saving time was established by the Standard Time Act of 1918. The Act was intended to save electricity for seven months of the year, during World War I.

Who Started Daylight Saving Time?
The idea of resetting clocks forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall was first suggested by Benjamin Franklin in his essay "An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light," which was published in the Journal de Paris in April 1784.

What United States do not observe daylight saving time?
Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) is the only state in the contiguous U.S. that does not observe daylight saving time. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas are among the states trying to observe year-round standard time.
