Spring Forward This Weekend

Why did daylight savings time start in the United States?
Daylight saving time was established by the Standard Time Act of 1918. The Act was intended to save electricity for seven months of the year, during World War I.

Who Started Daylight Saving Time?
The idea of resetting clocks forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall was first suggested by Benjamin Franklin in his essay "An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light," which was published in the Journal de Paris in April 1784.

What United States do not observe daylight saving time?
Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) is the only state in the contiguous U.S. that does not observe daylight saving time. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas are among the states trying to observe year-round standard time.
